We are a missionary Catholic archdiocese covering a land mass of 430,000 square kilometers in northern Saskatchewan, Manitoba and a small corner of North-West Ontario. The Métis, First Nations of Cree, OjiCree, Dene and non-Native people make up the richness this area.

The total area of the Archdiocese of Keewatin-Le Pas is 430,000 sq. km, serving the northern parts of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.  The cathedral church is Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral in The Pas MB.

The first mission was established in Ile-à-la-Crosse in 1860.

The Keewatin vicariate was established in 1910.  

The Keewatin Vicariate became the Archdiocese of Keewatin Le-Pas in 1967.

The Archbishop, Religious personnel and staff travel on gravel roads, winter roads, and pavement, by boat, snow machine and by air when visiting the different missions.  The farthest point west is LaLoche SK.  The distance from the Bishop's House in The Pas MB. to LaLoche SK., by car, is 850 km. with an estimated travel time of 8hrs. 30 min.  In this case, the Archbishop must travel through the diocese of Prince Albert in Saskatchewan.   The farthest point east is Sandy Lake ON.  (Fly-in only) The distance from the Bishop's House to Sandy Lake is combined between a 6 hour car ride to Winnipeg MB. and a one hour plane ride.   The farthest point north is Lac Brochet MB.  It's a 4 hour drive from The Pas to Thompson MB. then an hour flight from Thompson to Lac Brochet.
